Independent Spanish developer Valhalla Cats has announced that its upcoming hand-drawn adventure game Stars in the Trash will be released on December 9th for Steam, with a Nintendo Switch version in development.

Taking inspiration from classic animated movies, the game follows Moka, a spoiled cat who, tired of feeling trapped at home, runs away in search of adventure.

Along the way, she’ll have to explore a hand-drawn watercolour world, make friends with various characters, fight, and escape from the treacherous kennelman.

Valhalla Cats has confirmed the game will take over just two hours to beat, focusing on offering a “purrfectly short and satisfying game”.

To celebrate the launch of the game, Valhalla Cats is looking to pay tribute to lost pets. Anyone who wants their pet to appear in the game to be remembered forever can reply to the X post below with a picture of their pet.

Stars in the Trash will be released on December 8th. Check back for more news on the Nintendo Switch version.
