EA and Maxis have released a new trailer for The Sims 4’s next expansion, Life & Death.

The pack, which is set to release on October 31st for all platforms, whisks you to Ravenwood, home to three distinct neighbourhoods where you can take part in festivals, explore Crypts, help a Ghost Mother find her missing children, garden in community plots, and potentially bump into the Grim Reaper himself.

It’s Grimy himself who narrates the new trailer for the expansion, showcasing some of the new features you can enjoy from the pack, ranging from helping your Sims create Bucket Lists for powerful rewards and solving Unfinished Business in the afterlife as a Ghost to learning new Ghostly Powers to unleash chaos, love, or undergo a Rebirth.

The trailer also offers a look at the new Soul Journey mechanic, which keeps track of everything Sims want to do in their life, as well as the ability to play as customisable Ghosts and form special connections with other Sims – yep, they’ve included ghostly WooHoo!

The pack also adds two new Careers: the Reaper Profession and the Undertaker Career. Become a Grimtern as part of the Reaper Profession to help the Netherworld Department of Death (NWDD) prep Sims for their next phase of life before determining which souls to reap as part of the soul quota.

The Undertaker Career, meanwhile, comes with two branches: Mortician or Funeral Director, through which your Sims will have to dig graves, embalm, fun funeral services, and more.

Three new traits have been added – Macabre, Chased by Death, and Skeptic – along with the new Ghost Historian Aspiration, Ghost Whisperer Reward Trait, Thanatology Skill, Death by Murder of Crows death type, and the Hallowed Grounds Lot Trait.

Finally, Life & Death offers your Sims the ability to make Wills, experience four new Grief Types, and plan and hold funerals for the Deceased with dress codes and activities like giving eulogies, lighting candles, serving food, and more.

The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack launches on October 31st, 2024 for PC via the EA App, Mac via Origin, Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.
