Cosy games news from The Game Awards 2024

The official art for the 2024 Game Awards.

The Game Awards 2024 was held last night in Los Angeles, and although the event was geared mostly towards triple-A action-adventure games, there were a few announcements related to cosy gaming, which I’ve rounded up quickly below:

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle DLC

Although this announcement came before the event, I’m cheekily including it. Developer Mintrocket announced on X a new DLC for Dave the Diver, coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation consoles via PS+ in late 2025.

Titled In the Jungle, the DLC follows Dave and the Blue Hole crew as they head to a jungle for “new friends, new locations, and thrilling new discoveries”.

Overcooked developer announced a new horror-themed co-op game

Overcooked developer Ghost Town Games announced their next game, a horror-themed co-op game titled Stage Fright.

According to the Steam description, the game follows characters Drew, Blake, and Charlie as you guide them through a “charming coming-of-age story with real heart and memorable characters”.

Using the ability to switch between pairs of kids through the story to unravel different perspectives, you’ll need to “explore, solve escape rooms, overcome fiendish obstacles, and unravel an ancient mystery”.

Stage Fright will release on PC for Steam, no release date was announced.

New first-person narrative game One Move Away announced

Also announced during the Award Show was One Move Away, a first-person cosy puzzle game developed by Ramage Games and published by Playstack.

According to the official Steam description, the game requires you to pack belongings and load them into a car – neat or messy – before starting a new journey.

Experience three interwoven storylines across more than 20 levels packed with charm and surprises, soothing music, and a heartwarming art style.

One Move Away will launch in 2025 for PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles. Anyone interested in trying the demo can voice their interest here.

Astro Bot sweeps The Game Awards 2024

Team ASOBI and PlayStation’s Astro Bot managed to take home multiple awards, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Action/Adventure, and Best Family.

Meanwhile, Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital’s Neva, a story about a young woman and her lifelong bond with a wolf, took home the Best Art Direction award.

You can see there wasn’t all that much news for cosy gaming, but I thought this was all still worth a share!
