Dredge: The Collector walkthrough

The featured image shows the Dredge title and the Collector.

The Collector is Dredge’s main Pursuit, which must be completed to finish the game’s story. The mission requires you to find and collect five relics across the game’s world and return them to The Collector. My walkthrough will guide you through how to complete this gigantic Pursuit and the best way to go about it.

Where to find the five relics

After agreeing to help the Collector and allowing him to install dredging equipment on your boat, it’s time to find the five relics:

  • A key in Greater Marrow
  • A music box in Gale Cliffs
  • A ring in Stellar Basin
  • A necklace in Twisted Strand
  • A watch in Devil’s Spine

The order you do this is completely optional, but I suggest you first start with the key, as it can be found around Greater Marrow and is the easiest to get.

The Ornate Key

If you haven’t yet noticed, there’s a large red beam of light illuminating the sky around Greater Marrow. Well, that beam of light is highlighting the location of the first relic; the key. To grab it, simply sail to the back of Greater Marrow, and then approach the red beam of light at coordinates I8.

Dredge the beam of light for the Ornate Key, and then return to the Collector. While speaking with him, the Collector will reward you with an ability: Haste, adds speed to your engine but increases panic and engine heat.

He’ll also mark where he believes the next relic is located on your map at Gale Cliffs.

The Music Box

Head safe west of Greater Marrow to Gale Cliffs to uncover the music box. Like with the key, you should spot a beam of red light showing the location of the relic around coordinates P3, but it’s locked behind a wall of debris you’ll need to destroy by the dock to Ingfell Ruins in Gale Cliffs.

To destroy the debris, you’ll need to complete the Hermit’s Pursuit to learn how to craft explosives. Once you’ve done that, destroy the wall surrounding Ingfell Ruins, which allows you to scoop up the music box relic. By returning the relic to the Collector, you’ll unlock a new ability.

The Jewel Encrusted Band Ring

To grab the Ring, you’ll need to sail towards Stellar Basin. The relic can be found in the centre of Stellar Basin, above the large black shadow. But if you approach, you’ll quickly be attacked by a giant squid, meaning the relic is unobtainable for the time being.

Head to the nearby Research Station and complete the Researcher’s Pursuit (Find her at D5 in the Old Fortress on your map) to discover how to subdue the monster so you can sail out to the centre of Stellar Basin and dredge up the Ring. Like with the other relics, you’ll unlock another ability by bringing it to the Collector.

The Shimmering Necklace

The Shimmering Necklace relic can be found in Twisted Strand, but unlike the other relics, the Necklace is obtained by completing the Airman’s Pursuit.

The Pursuit requires you to defeat each of the monsters around the Twisted Strand and return their carcasses to the Airman, who fishes the relic from the final monster.

You can trigger the Pursuit by sailing to his Camp around E13 and F13 on the map. Returning the Shimmering Necklace to the Collector unlocks a fourth ability.

The Pocket Watch

The final relic, the Pocket Watch, is found in Devil’s Spine. To get it, you’ll need to help the Fanatic and complete his Pursuit at the Ancient Temple, coordinates O14.

The Pursuit requires you to collect three Fathomless Flames from Stone Shrines located around Devil’s Spine, each of which requires fish. By bringing them back to the Fanatic, you’ll unlock the Pocket Watch. Take it back to the Collector for a final ability, and to trigger end-game and either of Dredge’s two endings.

That’s the guide! I hope it’s helped you work out how to get each relic, and feel free to check my other Dredge guides to help you complete the game.
